What can you do with all of those envelopes you get in the mail with Christmas and Birthday cards?
Up-cycle them into Valentine’s Day cards, of course!
Here’s a fun way to skip buying Valentine’s Day cards this year, and make your Valentine’s Day a little greener! There’s nothing more eco-friendly than taking something that’s destined for the trash, and giving it a new life.
Have fun making these easy, eco-friendly Valentine’s Day cards with your kidlets, all you need are some old envelopes and a pair of scissors to get started!
Step 1: Cut the corner off of one side of an envelope.
Step 2: Cut out a heart shape as shown in picture below.
Step 3: Open up heart to create a little pouch.
Step 4: Decorate & fill with treats such as fair-trade chocolate, flowers for the teacher, baked goods, seed packets, you name it! You can also punch a hole on each side, and tie on some ribbon to make a cute little heart-shaped purse!
We made these easy up-cycled homemade Valentine’s Day cards last year for my daughter’s pre-school class & they were a big hit! Please excuse my less than gorgeous example pictured above, I threw it together in less than 2 minutes for demonstration purposes. With a little more time and effort, these can be absolutely adorable! I plan on making these for my daughter’s class again this year & will try to post pictures of our “finished product” when it gets closer to Valentine’s Day.

How cute is that?! I think I want to do this as goody bags for my daughter’s next birthday party…
That looks really easy to do and they are so cute.

That is a really cute idea and not just for Valentine’s Day. Unfortunately my kids rip open the envelopes in their excitement and don’t let us help so there isn’t much that can be salvaged for this project!
what a sweet idea.
