Did you know that an estimated 5 million trees are cut down each year to create white pages phone books and that according to a recent survey conducted with Harris Interactive, only 22% of recipients recycle when disposing of them, which explains why approximately 165,000 tons of waste end up in landfills? In addition, another survey shows that almost 75% of consumers are completely unaware of the environmental and financial impact in printing, delivering and recycling these books. Given that you likely use online directories, social networks and mobile phone applications to find the contact information you need, it simply does not make sense to have the white pages phone books forcefully delivered to us every year!
In honor of Earth Day, and the spirit of living an eco-friendly lifestyle, I want to encourage you to think about using online resources such as WhitePages.com as a green way to look up phone numbers and info you need, rather than the phone book.

i haven’t used a phone book in years!
The last time i used a phone book was 5 months ago i can look up phone numbers online now, but i still need the phone book at home to find some numbers occasionally it does come in handy.
To be honest, I cannot remember using one, so it has been a long, long time. Usually – for probably at least the last 5 years – I don’t even remember having one.
The captcha on the entry for “Give Eco-Crazy Mom A Boost!” Is not apparently working right now. I have put in 10 different codes, and it keeps going back to a new one. While I have – once in a blue moon – typed one wrong, there is no way I typed it wrong that many times. Hope you will still count my entry; but, if not, I certainly understand. The total was at 976. Thanks!
I used a phone book last year. I’m willing to give it up. Thanks!

i hate our phone book the names are so small you need a magnifying glass to read them
stuff is so hard to find in them now
I can’t even remember the last time I used a phone book!
I used the phone book in December but it was because I was at my mom and had no internet service to use for my phone. I had to go the old fashioned way to call cell provider. I don’t have a phone book at home.
I never use the phone book. I just google everything! I think phone books are really only useful for businesses and people without internet. They should send those post card things to every address and only give phone books to people who request them.
I also google everything! I agree that they should only pass out phonebooks by request only.
I can’t remember the last and yes I could give it up

I use my phone book almost every week. I use it to find new places in my area to check out.
I think I used one last year sometime. I often use them at work because we don’t always have access to a computer or the internet to look up numbers there.

I’d give it up if I had to but sometimes they are still useful.

I haven’t used one in years but my husband still does.
The last time I used a phone book was at the gas station when I locked my keys and my cell phone in the car. Other than such extreme situations (haha), I haven’t even touched one in a while. My phone can look up anything and all I have to do is touch the phone number and it starts dialing. Crazy the things we can do now.
I haven’t used a phone book in years
I haven’t used a phone book in 5-10 years! I use my phone or the internet to look up numbers. It’s funny, bc we just got a new phone book in the mail, and I told my husband that it was sad they sent that to us, since we’ll NEVER use it!
My only concern is that even in the modern age, some people do not have the internet, or computers. I think people should have to request a phone book instead of sending them to everyone.
I browse through mine every so often, but other than that, yeah I’d be willing to give mine up.
haven’t used a phone book in 14 years.
I can’t even remember the last time I used an actual phone book.. maybe like 8 years?
I can’t remember the last time I used a phone book – I’m not even sure we have one
I can’t remember the last time I used a phonebook! I would definitely give mine up.

I used the phone book just a few days ago. I’d never give up the hard copy for the same reason I’d never give up my landline phone. Technology isn’t that reliable, & in an emergency, a printed phone book can provide a wealth of information right at your fingertips.
Its been awhile.. well, since i got my smartphone, that i have used a phone book. I think ive already given it up
I can’t remember the last time I used a phone book. I would love to give mine up.

It’s probably been 10 years since I’ve used a phone book.
I haven’t used one in years also… They go straight into the recycling bin.
I think I only used the yellow pages & that was years ago.
I actually used one today, but yes I would be willing to give it up because I don’t use it that often.
man…I can’t remember the last time I used one…I always look up my numbers online…it was probably last summer when our power was out forEVER…used the phone book to find AEP’s phone number to report the outage. LOL I always keep a current copy of the white and yellow pages though…just for that very reason.
