HP eSmiles- Help Spread Smiles To The Families At The Ronald McDonald House!

HP eSmiles

How would you like to send some cheer to a family staying at the Ronald McDonald House and have HP donate a $1.00 in your name to Ronald McDonald House Charities?

HP has teamed up with FIVE Ronald McDonald Houses throughout the United States, including one right here in San Diego to put a smiles on the faces of Ronald McDonald House children and their families through an incredible program called eSmiles. But it gets even better- for EVERY eSmile you send, HP will donate $1 to Ronald McDonald House Charities, up to $10,000 per house for a total of 50,000!

Here’s how it works: HP ePrint technology enables people to print on the go by securely sending photos and documents directly from a mobile device to a printer’s unique email address – from virtually anywhere. Each participating Ronald McDonald House has its own HP ePrint enabled printer with customized ePrint address, allowing you to send an eSmile to a Ronald McDonald House down the street or around the globe.

I recently had the opportunity to visit our local Ronald McDonald House with a group of fellow bloggers & our children to help serve lunch to the families, take a tour, and see the eSmiles program in action! It truly was a day to remember, and a heart warming experience to see all that Ronald McDonald House for families during some of the most difficult moments in their lives. I brought my two oldest children and foster son along and we were all incredibly touched to see all of the eSmile notes, and how much they meant to the Ronald McDonald House staff and families.

If you’d like to send a special message you can email it to the same email address used for the photos (listed above).
It was bitter sweet watching the families line up to receive their lunch, by looking at their faces you could tell many were bearing a heavy weight on their shoulders. I was able to see first hand what a huge impact Ronald McDonald House Charities has on so many lives, and how every dollar donated through eSmiles really could make a difference.

We served lunch to over 150 people- some stayed and ate in the cafeteria, many wrapped their plates up and took them across the street to Children’s hospital to eat by their child’s bedside.
In the cafeteria they had a coloring table set up for the children, as well as two craft stations where families and volunteers could make some beautiful cards. My kidlets really enjoyed coloring pictures with some of the children staying at the Ronald McDonald House, and Kayla (my oldest daughter) and I couldn’t resist making a couple of cards while we were there.

After lunch, we got to learn more about the eSmiles program, and take a tour of the Ronald McDonald House! Did you know they have a gym, a “man cave” with flat screen tv’s and video games, their own school for the children who are staying there, a playroom, a playground, a serenity garden, a computer room with internet access and a chapel? They really have thought of everything to support families during their stay, and make them feel as comfortable as possible. In fact, it’s not just families staying in the house that they support, anyone with a child at Children’s hospital, or any of the surrounding hospitals is welcome to use their facilities during the day,  and they even offer them showers and a place to nap!

After the tour we stopped by the eSmile wall one more time to take a look at all of the well wishes sent in from all over the world, and have since been sending in plenty of eSmiles of our own. My 12 year old daughter downloaded the eSmile app on her cell phone and has been sending in several eSmiles each day. Getting your kids involved in the eSmile program is a great way to teach them about giving to others, and talk about how fortunate they are to be healthy and at home.
