Squishy Snak Pak Reusable Baby Food Pouch {Review}

About Squishy Snak Pak

Squishy Snak Pak

Another great mom invented product, the Squishy Snak Pak was created by SAHM Michelle Zacharias out of a desire to feed her twin boys wholesome homemade baby food without the mess- both at home and on the go. I’m sure you’ve seen the ever popular single use commercial baby food pouches in stores, they offer a convenient alternative to jarred baby food for on the go, and self-feeding once baby is old enough to hold and squeeze the pouch. But what if you prefer to make your own baby food? What if  you want the convenience, but don’t want to pay over $1 a pouch? What if you don’t want to throw a perfectly good pouch container and lid away after a just one use? Squishy Snak Pak is the perfect solution!

Squishy Snak Pak allows you to have the convenience of a portable, mess-free baby food pouch, while still providing your little one with fresh homemade food, and the ability to reuse the pouch over and over again!

My Review

Squishy Snak Pak

I’ve always fed my little ones homemade baby food, but I have to admit it can be a real pain in the neck on the go. When the single use commercial baby food pouches came out I purchased a few just to try them out, and instantly fell in love with the convenience and portability they offered. The problem was, they were filled with shelf stable fruits & veggies that were who knows how many days old, not highly nutritious fresh homemade baby food. Plus, being the eco-crazy mom I am, I truly wasn’t a fan of the single use factor eother- even “old school” baby food jars can be reused! I desperately tried to come up with a way to reuse the pouches, but there was simply no way to clean them out unless you cut off the bottoms- and then what good would they be? I searched the web for reusable versions, but at the time nothing was available. I even entertained the idea of inventing some myself, but I certainly didn’t have the time to invest in a big business venture.

I continued feeding Kyliana homemade baby food because I knew it was best for her, and purchased a single use pouch here and there for long outings, camping trips, and times I knew we’d be away from home for extended periods of time. Then, within the past few months something fantastic started happening- I began receiving multiple emails from various mompreneurs telling me about their reusable baby food pouches. The first message I received was from Michelle at Squishy Snak Pak, and I couldn’t wait to give them a try!

The Squishy Snak Pak looks very similar to commercial baby food pouches, but offers many unique features as well…

Squishy Snak Pak

The pouch is made of a high quality, thick BPA free plastic and features  a choke-proof cap and heavy duty zip closure located at the bottom of the pouch.

Squishy Snak Pak

The zip-lock style closure allows you to fill the pouch with up to 1/2 cup of your nutritious homemade creations, and makes it easy to clean and reuse the Squishy Snak Pak over and over again!

The Squishy Snak Pak is also freezer safe, providing a perfect solution for freezing pre-portioned homemade baby food. I love the convenience of having several pouches in the freezer so I can simply grab one, put it in the diaper bag, and within a couple hours have it thawed, fresh, and ready to eat on the go! Squishy Snak Paks aren’t just for babies either- our older children love them too. They make a healthier, and earth friendly alternative to store bought portable yogurts, smoothies, and applesauce pouches, and are the perfect size for lunchboxes or an after school snack.

Overall, I am very pleased with the Squishy Snak Pak and definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a healthy, eco-friendly alternative to commercial single use pouches. At just $9.99 (+shipping) per 2-pack, they are very cost effective as well. With single use pouches selling at $1 or more, the Squishy Snak Pak will easily pay for itself after just a few uses, and you’ll still have the ability to use it again and again!

  1. What a great idea! I love the convenience of the pouches but not the price or the waste.

  2. This is brilliant. My toddler LOVES applesauce in these packs, he’ll feed himself if he can go get them, but I can’t find any with organic applesauce. This way I could fill my own! Excellent!

I love making baby food and these pouches that are reusable are a great way to serve the food!

What a great idea. My how times have changed. When mine were little, I was the only person I knew who was making food for my little ones. Everyone else was purchasing pre-made food. No organic food was available either. I look at what is available for my daughter to use with her little one and am amazed. This style food container/feeding system certainly does reduce the mess as well as make it easy to save and transport.

  5. Beth Rees says:

I love that it has a heavy duty closure. I would be so worried about it spilling but what a great convenient way to transport your babies food! I love making out own food and this would definitely reduce the mess

  6. Kelly Tanner says:

This is a great idea. I would love to make fruit smoothies for this!

  7. I love this idea! I made all my own baby food, and it would have been really handy to have had these around for traveling. Plus, the cost of pouches at the store is outrageous, especially if you buy organic. I’d love to have some of these. :)

  8. Andrew L. says:

These are great! We buy these at the store often and they are so expensive, it would be nice to have them on hand whenever we need them for traveling.

  9. Mary Elliott says:

What a wonderful idea save lots of money for those who are buying products from the store and have to throw away the pack when food is gone never mind the fact that all that plastic is going into the land fills reusable pack what a fantastic idea Great Job ladies :)

  10. I love that these are reusable! How convenient!

  11. Bekah Kuczenski says:

I love the idea of this!! I love to make my baby’s food, but my baby love the pouches so she can fed herself. Now we can have both!!

  12. KRISTYN H. says:

This is just awesome! Wish I would have thought of it! I would definitely love to have these!

  13. If I understand this correctly, this is reusable. I love this! My son is going through a phase that he wants everything in a pouch, but I hate disposing stuff in the landfills!

  14. I am so glad this exists! This type of collapsible packaging is nice but I hate the amount of waste they generate. But a reusable version seems perfect. Healthy and environmentally friendly!!

  15. I was in my local WalMart the other day and saw a different brand of reusable pouch. I had to check it out (since these are the first I had seen- about a month ago). Not nearly as nice as these are! I really hope I win some of these.

  16. i like this idea and then it would be easy to carry it

  17. thanks for sharing! this is such a great idea. i am passing it on to my sister

  18. best idea ever for homemade baby food!

  19. I would love this for my toddler when we are on the go! I had no idea they made reusable ones, we just keep buying organic ones at the grocery and it gets expensive.

  20. Nicole Lewis says:

I love that these are refillable

  21. This is awesome. We’ve only heard of the Sili Squeeze!

  22. angie dostal says:

I love the idea of having a reusable pouch like this- my toddler thinks it’s such a treat when we get one of these pouches for her when we’re on the road! :)

  23. That’s cool that they are refillable. I’m sure my kiddos would end up getting them open, though:-S

  24. We were given a package of pouch fruit sauce about a year ago and my kids enjoyed them. I’ve refused to buy more because of the expense and waste but this would be fun for the kids.

  25. Michelle Lee says:

This would be a great way to trick my son into eating homemade baby food…since he’ll only eat out of a pouch currently (toddler phase, I guess).

  26. Stephanie O says:

These would be great for our family trips as well as trips to the park.

  27. I loved Michelles product so much I have brought it Downunder to Australia! Orders can also be taken in Australia via the website

  31. I love this idea, my LO loves the squeeze packs and what a better way to be able to offer her some all the time. Thanks for this awesome review

  32. I feel a bit conflicted. The product seems amazing – but if the zipper closure is on the bottom, what’s to stop the child from squeezing too fast & having the zipper give out? I can just imagine my kids getting rough with it and *plop* wearing their food.
